Will it fit your car
The number on your own part decides, not the car model. Mercedes changed the design mid-production, so compare the number before you order.

Not sure? Send us a photo of your separator and your VIN. We check it against the catalogue and confirm before shipping — we would rather check twice than handle a return.

What this part does
The oil separator returns blow-by gases from the crankcase to the intake and strips the oil mist out of them. The built-in diaphragm valve regulates the vacuum in the system.
A worn diaphragm is one of the more common failures on M270 and M274 engines — it cracks with age, and the engine then draws air through an unmetered path.
When it needs replacing
| Symptom | What to look at |
|---|---|
| Whistling from under the rocker cover | loudest at idle, quietens when you open the throttle |
| Raised idle speed | the engine draws air through the cracked diaphragm |
| Oily intake, oil consumption | the separator no longer catches the oil mist |
| Dipstick or filler cap pushed out | overpressure in the crankcase |
| Lean mixture fault (P0171) | after ruling out other intake leaks |
A one-minute test: with the engine running, put your hand over the oil filler. Clear suction — or the opposite, a push — points to the separator.

Questions we get most often
Do I need a workshop to fit it? It is a job on top of the engine, with no electronics and no coding. With basic tools you can do it yourself. Replace the port seals while you are there — old ones tend to leak once disturbed.
Will it work on the 2.0? The confirmed fit is for the 1.6 CGI. On the 2.0 the number is sometimes different — write to us with the number from your own part.
I have a raised idle and a whistle — is it definitely the separator? Usually yes, but rule out the intake hoses and the rocker cover gasket first. The separator is the most common cause, not the only one.
