A catalytic converter turns the harmful parts of exhaust gas – carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and, on petrol engines, nitrogen oxides – into less harmful compounds. A worn cat triggers the engine light with a catalyst efficiency code (such as P0420), fails the MOT emissions test, rattles when the ceramic core breaks or saps power when it is blocked. Also check the lambda sensors and the cause of failure, such as misfires.
Converters are engine-specific. Compare the OE number stamped on the casing, the engine code and the Euro standard, and check whether the cat is built into the manifold or the DPF. If unsure, send us your VIN.
Used converters carry a 60-day start-up (functional) warranty and a 60-day return period; working-day orders go out within 24 hours.
