The lubrication system pumps oil under pressure to the crankshaft bearings, camshafts and turbocharger, while the breather vents gases from the crankcase. Warning signs include the oil pressure light coming on, hydraulic lifters tapping after start-up, leaks from the sump or turbo oil lines, and oil in the intake when the breather is blocked. Do not put these off: low oil pressure quickly destroys bearings and the turbo.
Choose parts by OE number and engine code. Oil pumps differ in output and drive, sumps in shape and level sensor opening, and dipsticks in length. Send your VIN if you are not sure.
