The EGR system routes part of the exhaust gas back into the intake to lower combustion temperatures and cut nitrogen oxide emissions. Over time the valve clogs with soot and starts to stick: the engine loses power, drops into limp mode, smokes or idles unevenly, and the ECU logs an EGR flow fault. A leaking EGR cooler can also cause coolant loss with no visible leak.
Choose the part by the OE number on the valve or cooler body, the engine code and the emissions standard, as one engine size often has several versions. If in doubt, send us your VIN. Fit new gaskets whenever you replace the valve.
